your work matters. your people do, too.

Healthy teams = effective teams

Your people care deeply about the work they do. But when the demands keep growing and the resources don’t, even the most dedicated staff members can reach a breaking point.

Joyride helps organizations move beyond surface-level self-care to give their people practical, effective strategies for navigating stress, setting boundaries, and sustaining meaningful work.

Because supportive teams deserve to be supported.

Based in Calgary. Available for in-person and virtual trainings and consulting.

Can we please stop talking about self-care??

A different approach

A mindfulness app. A bubble bath. A reminder to book that vacation. Lovely things, no doubt! But they are a bandaid on a bullet wound. They cannot make an impossible workload sustainable, resolve competing priorities, or teach someone how to respond when work keeps following them home. And yet, too often, workplace wellbeing starts and ends at “have you considered booking a personal day?”. That’s because self-care is reactionary. We turn to self-care when we’re already struggling.

At Joyride, I take a more proactive approach: self-tending. Your wellness strategy has to be workable in your own life. Burnout prevention and recovery is not one-size-fits-all, so why do we keep prescribing self-care plans that treat everyone the same way? I bring together practical mental health education, counselling-informed tools, and a genuine understanding of purpose-driven work to ensure your employees create a wellness plan that is personalized to them and ready to implement; not just another worksheet that will be tossed in the recycling bin.

Let's work together

Every team has its own pressures, priorities, and strengths. We can start with a single workshop or explore a more tailored approach to workplace wellbeing.

Beyond the Bubble Bath: Self-tending for Burnout Prevention

Joyride's signature workshop

A practical, interactive workshop for teams who want to move beyond knowing they should look after themselves and start figuring out how to make it happen. Participants explore their personal relationship with values, identify the warning signs that they’re running on empty, and develop an individualized Self-tending Plan they can put into practice at work and beyond.

Drawing on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, the workshop helps people build a different relationship with difficult thoughts and feelings, reconnect with what matters to them, and make room for more sustainable choices.

Participants leave with:

  • A clear understanding of their personal values at work and in other areas of their lives

  • An inventory of their personal stress patterns and early warning signs

  • Practical strategies for working with difficult thoughts, emotions and experiences, rather than getting caught up in fighting them

  • A better understanding of what genuinely restores their energy and supports their wellbeing

  • A personalized Self-tending Plan with realistic actions they can take across different areas of their lives

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all prescription for self-care. It’s an opportunity to identify what works for them, what gets in their way, and what they want to do differently.

Best for: Non-profit and purpose-driven teams navigating sustained pressure, emotionally demanding work, organizational change or the early signs of burnout.

Available as an organizational training engagement. Let’s discuss your team’s needs, preferred format and timing. Alternative trainings are also available as needed. Let’s chat!

When possible, my perspective is that staff wellbeing should always be considered proactively. This means, we need to consider mental wellness before heading into predictably busy periods. Are you designing a new strategic plan? Preparing for a capital campaign? Merging with another charity or preparing for an expansion? These periods of change and growth are exciting; they are also common times for increased staff turnover.

For organizations looking to take a closer look at staff wellbeing, we can explore your priorities, identify opportunities for practical action, and develop an approach that fits your people and resources.

This work might include facilitated conversations, tailored learning sessions for your leadership team or Board, or support to transform your external values into ones that your staff see themselves as part of, too.

Looking for an engaging speaker for a staff event, professional development day or sector gathering?

I bring an accessible, counselling-informed perspective to conversations about burnout, stress, and wellbeing in and out of work, grounded in the realities of people who care deeply about their work.

Hello!

I'm Courtney

I’m the Founder of Joyride Counselling and Consulting, a Certified Canadian Counsellor and a long-time non-profit professional.

And a year ago right now, I was you!

I’ve spent more than a decade working in the charitable sector, including leadership roles that often had me balacing budgets alongside employee wellbeing. I know what it feels like to care deeply about a mission, feel responsible for the work getting done, and navigate the realities of doing more with less. I know it’s hard.

My counselling training gives me another lens on those experiences: how we respond to stress, what happens when our coping strategies stop working, and how we can make choices that better reflect what matters to us.

I put my professional background to work in my consulting practice. My approach is practical, compassionate, and grounded in the understanding that if we don’t have healthy teams then we don’t have anything at all.

I want to help you build a workplace where your people can do meaningful work without having to sacrifice themselves in the process.
